WELL-KNOWN former Phuket politician Anchalee Tephabutra, until recently Secretary of the PM's office, has announced that she will be standing for election on July 3 on Phuket for the Democrat Party.
Her husband, Tossaporn Tephabutra, announced he was giving up the Phuket seat just two weeks ago. He and his Democrat running mate, Raewat Areerob, easily won the last poll on Phuket in 2007.
Khun Anchalee, a former president of the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation, will be No. 10 on Phuket ballot papers following a nationwide draw today that put the Opposition Pheu Thai at No. 1.
Khun Anchalee will be standing in Phuket Zone One while Khun Raewat will stand for Zone Two.
Other Phuket candidates are expected to be announced as the closing date for nominations draws closer.
Yingluck Shinawatra, sister of fugitive former PM Thaksin Shinawatra, is to lead the Pheu Thai party in the election.
Pheu Thai has announced Wisit Jai-arj and Saman Kebsap as its Phuket candidates.
