PHUKET: Police have managed to turn a checkpoint stop that turned up a small quantity of drugs into a triple-play sting that netted alleged dealers.
Pulled over at a checkpoint at Kata Temple about 1.30am yesterday, Nattarin Dansataporn handed over 1.8 grams of and some information about its source.
As a result, police pulled a ''sting'' that netted Hutchai Khowkem and his girlffriend Suwimon Chaikhun, with 1.82 grams of the methamphetamine, a rifle and ammunition.
Fingered by the pair was alleged dealer Sarawoot Peachchantongkram, whose rooms turned up no drugs but two powerful rifles. All four faces charges.
The arrests were overseen by the Superintendent of Karon Police Station, Colonel Veerawat Jantharawijid.

Chief of Phuket Police said Phuket is free of guns but he may want to say "visible guns" as it looks that all "BadBoys" in Phuket have guns and they are many of them roaming the streets.
