A BRITISH man has been arrested for allegedly selling cocaine and the methamphetamine yah ice to tourists in the upmarket Phuket resort of Bang Tao.
Police from Cherng Talay and Phuket City, combining under the command of Phuket Police Chief Pekad Tantipong, arrested David Kevin Griffin, 50, in a ''sting'' operation at 10pm on July 14.
Police say an undercover officer asked Mr Griffin by telephone for 10 small doses of yah ice and arranged to meet outside the Dala Resort, on Bang Tao beach road.
Officers at a checkpoint then intercepted Mr Griffin as he headed to the assignation in his vehicle. A check of the Toyota Vios uncovered a brown bag containing a small amount of 1.5 grams of marijuana, 16.8 grams of yah ice and 9.6 grams of cocaine.
Police say they then searched Mr Griffin and found 3.4 grams of yah ice in his underpants and 1.25 grams of cocaine in his wallet.
The following morning, officers went to Mr Griffin's rented house in Soi Pasak Moo 4 in Cherng Talay where they say they found additional quantities of illegal drugs: 13.55 grams of marijuana, 1.3 grams of yah ice and 2.5 grams of cocaine.
Officers say Mr Griffin had been arrested on February 4 last year and granted bail after having been arrested for possession of drugs.
A spokesman for Phuket Prison said today that Mr Griffin was now being held without bail.
