PHUKET police have arrested an under-age motorcycle gang they say was armed and dangerous. The gang of five, aged 16 and 17, were caught in possession of four illegal hand guns, three swords and a folding knife.
Officers at Tung Tong police station captured the youths at the Patong Hill checkpoint about 8pm last night. Police believe the five have been attacking people on motorcycles and fighting with other gangs. The youths, whose identity cannot be revealed because they are under 18, deny all allegations
The five also were said to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, as well as cough syrup, which police believe they mixed with the amphetamine yah ba.
The five youths were sent to Phuket's juvenile detention centre today. Senior police on Phuket have expressed concern at the rising number of young people on Phuket who abandon school to lead a listless life of crime and drugs.
