Phuket Police Commander Major General Chonsit Wadhnawarangkun announced the transfer of Colonel Chote Chitchai, effective within 24 hours, today.
It's understood that a special team of police under the direction of the commander discovered underage workers in the JS2 Pub in Phuket City.
The commander's special team was structured earlier this year to look at issues across all of Phuket, regardless of the boundaries drawn by eight local Phuket police stations.
Concern heightened in January with an attack by eight staff of the Rassada Pub in Phuket City's Poolpol district in which serious axe and knife wounds were inflicted on Phuket resort owner-manager Vorasit ''Wan'' Issara.
Khun Wan was at the pub early in the morning, after official closing hours, with Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner. The incident received worldwide coverage. One of the attackers - the one allegedly wielding the axe - was underage.
Colonel Chote is to have a new assignment at Phuket Police Headquarters, which is just around the corner from the Phuket City station, for the next 30 days.
Deputy Phuket Commander Sakchai Limjalern is to take over as Superintendent at Phuket City for that period.
If the "transfer" of police officers continues there will be no senior/experienced ones left to protect the island.
