PHUKET: A suspicious blaze destroyed a seven-million-baht VIP bus this afternoon in Phuket City. The blaze, which began with a small blast, also damaged a second bus.
Owner Sriwit Nunun, 40, said he or a member of the crew was usually around the area where the bus was parked in the Samkong district of Phuket City.
''None of us were in the vicinity this afternoon,'' Khun Sriwit said. ''About 3pm I heard a bang and saw the bus on fire soon after.''
Firemen took 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze. Police were later called and officers said the fire was suspicious.
The vehicle, part of the Sakda Bus Service, usually runs between Phuket and Dan Nok, on the border with Malaysia in Songkhla.
