Move over volleyball . . . here comes the squeaky clean Roy Fest party

Phuket Set to Party on Karon: September 25-26

Monday, September 21, 2009
PHUKET is getting ready to dance with a FREE party for thousands set for the beach at Karon on Friday and Saturday night, September 25 and 26.

Topline acts from Thailand and overseas will be performing.
And the warships of the US Navy will be moored off the island, too.

Tourism of Thailand regional director Sethapan Buddhani told Phuketwan today that the 22 million baht Roy Fest could become a regular event.

''Phuket has certainly got everything you need for this kind of fun night under the stars,'' he said.

AirAsia is even offering package trips from Bangkok that include accommodation and a ticket to see some of the top-line bands at the shows. (Call 02-5033878-9 for details).

The Karon beach area, where a portion of the sand has been flattened for the annual women's beach volleyball competition, is ideal for this kind of musical night, with about 40 metres to the sea.

And Karon, where the sand is superbly white, is ''squeaky clean.'' The show runs from 6pm to 2am.

Featured will be DJs from Japan, Britain and the US plus local acts such as DJ Seed, DJ Dragon, T-Bone, Ta-Mone, Thaitanium, Southside, Doobadoo, Silly Fools and Smile Buffalo.

Great, I will be there for sure.

If we are lucky enough to have weather like today, hot, no rain or wind and calm seas (wishing I was in the Similan island's right now).

Please be aware that we still have rip tides and strong current at Karon beach. A mix of good music, food and booze makes the calm sea look tempting.

I am getting bored of reading the body count stats on Phuket's beach's this season.

Play safe.
