PHUKET: About 500 parents joined a protest parade through Phuket City today over plans to convert an all-age school to a purely secondary school.
The parents say they will have difficulty locating their primary school age children elsewhere if the Pluk Panya School is no longer comprehensive.
The parents and some teachers marched through Phuket City from the school in Satun Road to Phuket Provincial Hall where a petition was presented to Governor Maitree Intrusud.
The petition said the Phuket City Council had misused its power to ''threaten, frighten and force parents.''
The parents gave the council 15 days to cancel the project, scheduled for next year, or face ''further tension.''
