PHUKET: About 100 people joined a protest today at a construction site where two staffers allegedly fired gunshots and attempted to kill two other workers.
The men escaped riding on a grader and were, according to the protesters, fortunate to get away without being hit by bullets.
Yutdhana Kongwon, 30, and Chaowalit Chairat, 35, had been levelling soil at the SPC Company's site in Thalang, where construction goods will eventually be retailed.
However, the pair fell into a dispute with foremen Rattabhum Kamted, 30, and Pongpirom Meekeaw, 37.
When the row escalated, the foremen allegedly fired shots at the fleeing workers, who were lucky to get away as security guards intervened.
The construction site is in the Moo 5, Srisoonthorn area of Thalang district.
The foremen have since vanished and will face charges of attempted murder when they are apprehended.
The protest today called on the SPC Company to help the police trace the foremen, with a deadline of June 14 provided before the protesters seek further action.
