PHUKET: The family of a human resources manager, shot dead in January, is meeting tomorrow with the Commander of Phuket Police, Major General Chote Chawanwiwat, to seek answers to the case.
A single shot fired through the driver's side window of her car killed Jintana Mahattanapak as she drove home from work on January 18.
She has two school-age children. Her husband, Winyoo Mahattanapak, said tonight that it was distressing to go through Mother's Day this year without his wife, and without her killing being solved.
Khun Winyoo will be visiting Major General Chote at Phuket City Police Headquarters with his wife's brother and sister.
''It has been seven months and I am sure the police must have some idea who killed my wife,'' he told Phuketwan.
Khun Jintana was human resources manager at the five-star Hilton Arcadia Resort and Spa in Karon, on Phuket's west coast.
Khun Winyoo said that at the time of the murder, there was talk of her involvement in a property deal, but it wasn't true.
''We led a very quiet life,'' Khun Winyoo said. ''We mostly still spend our time at work and when we are not working, we spend our time at church.
''For my children, it's school and church. My children still miss their mother a lot.''
Khun Winyoo said he believed there was a conflict at the resort where his wife worked but police had not provided updates on the case for some time.
He had tried to meet with the commander previously but the meetings had always been with a deputy commander.
''Tomorrow, we hope to hear from the commander whether there is new evidence or not,'' he said.
Khun Jintana, 42, was driving along Chao Fa West Road towards Phuket City soon after 8pm when a single shot was fired through her darkened window, killing her instantly.
It's believed the killer called Khun Jintana's mobile telephone number so that she could be seen when the shot was fired.
