Phuket Motorcycle Crashes Claim Third Expat Victim

Saturday, December 22, 2012
PHUKET: An expat man remains unidentified after he was killed in a motorcycle crash yesterday in Phuket City - the third bike-related expat fatality on Phuket within five days.

The man, aged about 60 and wearing shorts and a t-shirt, ran into the rear of a pickup near Suan Luang Park, in Wirat Hongyok Road, and broke his neck about 4pm.

Paramedics could find no identification. The man's body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket City.

Police will try to trace the identity of the man through the motorcycle. He was wearing a ring and an arm bracelet.

His death is the third motorcycle-crash death of an expat since December 17. The previous victims were men from Turkmenistan and the US.

Expat deaths on motorcycles on Phuket surge at this time each year with the approach of the festive season.
