Phuket Mini-Van and Truck Collide: Three Tourists Taken for Hospital Check

Tuesday, October 2, 2012
PHUKET: Three European tourists were taken to hospital for observation after a mini-van crashed into a 10-wheel truck on Phuket's central highway today.

The mini-van driver told Kusoldharm Foundation paramedics that the driver of the truck changed lanes in Thepkasattri Road and he could not avoid crashing into the truck.

Foundation rescuers attended the scene of the crash, north of the turnoff to Phuket International Airport, about 1pm.

The mini-van was heading south from Phang Nga at the time. It is understood the tourists were taken to Bangkok Hospital Phuket in Phuket City as a precaution.

I quit MiniVans a long time ago, I don't really have an urgent death wish!

Years ago, a friend used to take me between Patong and the airport. Now that arrangenment is finished and I have, like many others, considerable experience in taking taxis between those 2 places. In over 50 such trips, I can count on one hand, the number of times I have had a careful driver. 90% of the time, they are driving horrendously fast and too close. I love Phuket but absolutely hate that drive. Next time I will try the "Hello" people.
