John Robert George Cawley, 22, told Marine Police who carried out the arrest last night that he was to be paid 6000 baht for bringing 6.1 grams of heroin onto Phuket.
Cawley took a ferry from Samui to the mainland then a bus to Phuket yesterday, before being taken by a friend to an apartment in the Keha district of Rassada.
Acting on a tip-off, Phuket Marine Police knocked on the door there last night about 11pm and Cawley answered, holding a black bag.
Seeing the unexpected people at the door, officers say, Cawley tossed the bag back inside.
When officers searched the room they found the heroin in the bag, police say.
Cawley, already on bail on another charge, was being held at Phuket City Police Station today and will face court in Phuket City on Monday.
Interesting that the Marine Police were involved in this one. A conspiracy theorist might think he was set up from the start. Stuffing up your life for B6000 - madness.
