A body is wrapped for removal after a Phuket man killed his neighbor

Phuket Man Murders Neighbor in Renovation Row Over Noise, Dust

Saturday, October 12, 2013
PHUKET: Five shots ended a feud between neighbors today, making one Phuket man a murderer and the other his victim.

Kamnoon Sangwanloi, 49, had been renovating his house in eastern Phuket, much to the annoyance of Pairoj Sompet, 48.

The noise and the dust floated across the road from one neighbor's property to the other.

The two men were about the same age but didn't share much else.

Khun Kamnoon had basically ignored Khun Pairoj's complaints, police discovered today as they began their murder probe.

At 10.10am, neighbors in Paklok's Moo 8 were shocked by sharp reports. It wasn't Vegetarian Festival fireworks.

When police arrived they found Khun Kamnoon's body, shot five times outside his house. Neighbors told officers that he was quite wealthy and owned the Kajornkiet Kindergarten School.

Khun Pairoj was a part-time tourist van driver.

He waited outside the house for the police to arrive, and drove to the station in his own car.

Khun Pairoj was being questioned by officers at Thalang Police Station this afternoon.

What?!? A tourist transportation specialist with hyper-violent tendencies? Obviously an isolated case of violence.

He was allowed to drive his own car to the police station after murdering somebody with 5 gun shots? Only in Thailand..

Well just as well he didn't just drive to Issan in his own car, then.

Hang man finding myself in the same situation once before, I do sympathise with the killer. I have noticed how making police complaint reports go by the wayside, even Or Bor Tor inspections and instructions go unheeded by the above the law perps. I know of both of these persons and it boils down to stubbornness in the extreme.
If we all learnt to go back to giving a little more compasion and understanding to our neighbors, the agrieved persons may not feek they have to leave widow's and widowers in their wake.
I ask everyone to please remember that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. RIP to K Kamnoon. Love can unite us all plesse. Stop the killings on this bloodied island now and forevermore.

At least the "part-time tourist van driver" seems happy with himself.

Hope he likes prison food.

@ Christian 100% agree hard to believe cold blooded murder and the Police are relaxed, maybe he stopped for a pack of cigarettes or some wine.

This case leaves this newbie with alot of questions about Thai culture. Maybe the shooter had a valid gripe.

Is this an example of social injustice? Does a wealthy man have more "rights" because he can buy "influence" vs the poor shooter whose rights appear to have been ignored and trampled on?

Are there actual building codes with mandatory available work hours limited to daytime as a courtesy to neighbors?

What is the penalty for murder when its Thai on Thai violence? Maybe the shooter did a cost-benefit analysis and killing his wealthy neighbor was the most profitable. I mean they would have been neighbors for decades, right? Decades of the wealthy neighbor having the influence to run roughshod over another man's rights. But now the shooter won't have to deal with the dead man ever again and it might only cost him a couple years prison...or less.

I have had lousy neighbors...I have walked in the shooters shoes.

Mind your manners!

I too have noisy neighbours and it drives me crazy. Only at night when i try to sleep though. And i have been driven to wanting to do extreme things. But thankfully i have a healthy dose of consequential thinking .

Maybe he thought he would be driving home from the station after the police realised he was justified in his method of noise suppresion.

My neighbours son has recently changed the muffler, on his bike, adds nothing to its performance but the noise is deafening, I don't plan to murder him, though sometimes I'd like to throw something into the spokes as he goes by, but what I plan to do, one night, is to sneak next door and poor a cup of sugar in the fuel tank, carbons up the motor very quickly.

@DSI Watcher why don't you just speak to them rather than cause criminal damage.

To DSI watcher..maybe you watch too many movies..sugar in the tank has no way of getting into an engine as you suggest..sorry! Sugar does not dissolve in fuel..the best it may do is to clog the filters or even if it gets to the carby or injectors it will be stopped there. A temporary fuel blockage is all you will ever achieve if you choose this path. The other thing of course, is that tit leads to tat and a group of his mates may decide to do worse to you and your vehicle...Jai yen yen.

@FF, what makes you think I haven't spoken to them.

@Robert, the use of sugar is to guess nuisance value, after consultation has failed...the next move is valve grinding paste in the fuel tank, this does wear out the motor.

I must inform readers, that the entire soi it pissed off, so retaliation from this dick would not serve him well.

@DSI
I too enjoy a quiet neighborhood and courteous neighbors.

Unfortunately the fuel filter will block the abrasive from getting into the cylinder.
Plus I would be inclined to agree with others' posted warnings ONLY because you probably own far more valuable possessions than this kid has. Tit for tat you have more to lose.

I sure like the US because it has noise ordinances that are enforceable in a court of law. You simply call emergency services and make a noise complaint. The authorities measure the decibel level of the offender. A citation is issued. Violator has specific number of days to comply or vehicle is impounded.

My own neighborhood has a covenant that prohibits "loud pipes".

Good luck.
