PHUKET: Swede Tommy Viktor Soderlund appeared in a Phuket court yesterday and was given four dates on which his trial for murder will continue.
Mr Soderlund has denied involvement in killing another Swede, Maksim Schantz, at a five-star apartment block in Phuket City in August, 2011.
He renewed his not guilty plea at Phuket Provincial Court yesterday and was told that court time has been allocated on April 14, July 19, August 9 and August 29 for the case to continue.
Another Swede, Johan Sebastian Ljung, has opted to plead guilty to the murder of Maksim Schantz but no date has been set for continuation of his trial.
Because Mr Ljung and Mr Soderlund have entered different pleas, their cases are to be heard separately.
The two accused Swedes followed Mr Schantz to Phuket from Pattaya, where they fell out over a business, and confronted him outside a luxury apartment block in Phuket City.
Mr Ljung has previously said he stabbed Mr Schantz by mistake. The pair intended to handcuff Mr Schantz and extract some information.
Mr Schantz struggled, Mr Ljung said at the reenactment. He went to grab Mr Schantz by the shirt collar and the knife in his hand pierced Mr Schantz's throat.
As Mr Schantz bled to death, the two men commandeered a motorcycle at gunpoint and fled but were apprehended not long after.
They have been in Phuket prison since their arrest, awaiting trial.
