PHUKET: Police hunting the killers of journalist Wisut ''Ae'' Tangwittayaporn have made a breakthrough with the discovery of a motorcycle they believe was used in his Phuket assassination.
Corruption-hating Khun Ae, who named beachside properties on Phuket he considered were likely to have falsified land titles, was gunned down on Phuket's main road in broad daylight on Thursday in a repulsive killing that has triggered a major murder hunt.
Police have discovered what they believe was the motorcycle used in the assassination. The vehicle was pulled from a canal along the Samkong-Sapam Road in Phuket City yesterday.
The canal is a few kilometres from the spot on Thepkasattri Road, Phuket's main thoroughfare, where Khun Ae was shot.
The motorcycle had no numberplates. Khun Ae's killers are believed to have placed a false numberplate on the motorcycle before riding it on Thursday.
Khun Ae's wife, Jiraporn ''Ji'' Hosakul, sitting beside him in their Honda Jazz, was unhurt as the gunman opened fire, firing four times.
As reported yesterday in Phuketwan, Governor Tri Augkaradacha has called for resort and hotel managements to report suspicious signs in the wake of two murders in two days and a Bangkok terrorism alert this week

The loss of Khun Ae is certainly a major step backwards for Thailand.
The real disturbing issue here is that most Thais accept corruption as part of Thai culture. The question begs to be asked; "Considering this is due to corruption and that the Thai polls clearly indicate that corruption is acceptable by the majority of the nation, is this really how you want your country to be perceived by other countries?"
In just a few days three people have been murdered with one that is still open, with police saying it may be a heart attack or considering the wound on his head, could be a murder victim.
With all the murders, corruption and scams how on earth can you market this as a tourist destination without resorting to outright lies?
If any business was run in the same way as Thailand it would go bust and that's exactly where this country is heading, thanks to the what is so commonly acceptable.
