PHUKET: A Norwegian man has become the latest person arrested as immigration officers on Phuket are ordered to widen random patrols.
Hermansen Arnt Egil, 33, was arrested on Maeluan Road in Phuket City when he looked suspicious to Immigration officer Lieutenant Colonel Tianchai Chompoo.
''We have been told to question anyone we see who might be on Phuket under illegal circumstances,'' the lieutenant colonel said.
The Norwegian man was granted a visa when he arrived on Phuket on December 12 but that expired on March 11.
The Norwegian man was handed over to Phuket City Police Station and is likely to be fined 500 baht per day for the overstay when he appears in Phuket Provincial Court.

Now that you can do your 90 day reporting online Visas are so easy. I only have to travel to Immigration once a year and never have to leave, unless and want a re-entry permit or I purchase a single re-entry or multiple entries in advance - Great well done.
