Figures released by the Phuket Public Health Department to Phuketwan today show 66 new cases have been found in 2010 up to the end of October. This figure compares with 384 cases in 2006 - more than a new case every day - the highest tally since records were first kept 20 years ago.
Since 2006, the annual tally of new cases has reduced from 384 to 293 to 238 to 212 to 66 in the first 10 months of this year.
Based on the figures for 2009, Phuket rated No. 1 for new HIV/Aids cases in Thailand.
Of the 3939 cases of HIV/Aids over two decades, 2631 have been among males and 1308 among females.
Campaigns are conducted from time to time among segments of the population that are thought to be most at risk. Prevalence of HIV/Aids is highest among the 25-39 years age group, which makes up 26.4 percent of the confirmed cases.
Out of every 100,000 in the population, 65.99 people will have HIV/Aids.
It is not clear whether the statistical analysis is based on Phuket's official population of 320,000 citizens or on the broader actual population of more than 600,000 Thais, 200,000 Burmese, plus tourists.
You are saying that less than 1 in 1,000 people in Thailand have HIV?
I think the figure is more like 1 in 100, with more than 1/2 million people infected in Thailand and as many already dead from the virus.

We are not saying anything. We are reporting statistics from Phuket Public Health. According to their figures, your estimates are wildly exaggerated.
