A TIERED hillside restaurant is being carved on property above Phuket's Kata Noi beach by a Bangkok businessman with Phuket connections.
The village headman of Karon, Winai Chitchiew, said the access road to the piece of real estate was not authorised, but the erection of the restaurant was unlikely to be stopped.
Khun Winai told Phuketwan that the businessman plans to erect a restaurant on the site.
The new restaurant site can be viewed from the After Beach Bar, which has gradually expanded in size over the years along with its neighbor, the Small Viewpoint Bar.
''Karon has developed a lot,'' Khun Winai said. ''Local people are not always involved in new projects.''
Phuketwan has always gauged the future of high seasons on Phuket on the number of new bars and restaurants or extensions to existing restaurants along the coast road above Kata Noi beach, where sunsets are a popular attraction for tourists visiting the bars.
