PHUKET: A three-year-old girl ran to neighbors in Patong last night and exclaimed: ''Dad killed Mum!''
Neighbors had just heard two shots ring out, shots that instantly made the child an orphan in a shocking Phuket murder-suicide.
This morning, as the couple were buried together after a Muslim ceremony in Patong, mystery still surrounded the reason why traffic officer Boonsuk Kamintong killed his wife Suchada with a single bullet to the head before turning the gun on himself.
Young daughter Yaris was close enough to have blood on her dress when she ran to tell neighbors in Nanai Road what had happened.
Khun Boonsuk, 42, was a respected member of the community, known to many as a friendly policeman. Phuket Police Commander Major General Pekad Tantipong attended today's ceremony.
With the major general at Patong's new mosque and later at the cemetery nearby were scores of Muslim and Buddhist family, friends and colleagues of the couple.
The only clue that the seemingly happy pair were having a spat: Ten missed calls from Khun Boonsuk on his 25-year-old wife's mobile telephone.
Tragically, it seems that about 8pm last night, he let his gun do the talking.
Officer Boonsuk had won awards for being a good policeman for the past two years straight. His wife ran Yaris Design in Nanai Road, and the family lived above the shop.
Photos showed both bodies laying on the floor of the shop, beneath rows of pretty dresses on hangers.
Arrangements for the future of little orphaned Yaris have yet to be made.
Khun Boonsuk had a Muslim father and a Buddhist mother, and always wore the amulets of monks he respected.
It is believed it was Khun Boonsuk's second marriage. He leaves a first wife and a child in Nakkornsritammarat.
People on Phuket feeling depressed or angry are advised to talk to friends or family, or consult a doctor for help.

I wonder if Thai Police does any screening for mental health problems ?
Anyone can encounter insurmountable problems in their life but when that happens to armed law officers, it puts the general public in grave danger.
What a horrible thing for a 3y old to witness. I hope she gets proper phychological attention and guidance.
