Young supporters hoping to see a win for FC Phuket and Camara

FC Phuket Fights for a Fallen Football Star

Friday, November 12, 2010
ABOUT 2000 fans are expected to turn out tomorrow night to cheer FC Phuket to an important victory in the holiday island's climb up Thailand's football ladder.

The match against Loei City could prove a turning point as Phuket builds momentum to gain the place in Division One that fans clearly know that the Southern Sea Kirin deserve.

More important than a victory in Phuket City will be the inspiration that the game could provide to FC Phuket player Camara Ahmed, who lies in Vachira Hospital, not far from his spiritual home at Surakul Stadium, recovering from an on-field heart attack sustained just a fortnight ago in a Phuket game.

The young Ivory Coast professional has been making progress. He can now open his eyes and breathe on his own. He still has a way to go before he kicks a ball for Phuket once more.

White shirts supporting Camara will be on sale on Saturday night at the ground, with FC Phuket President and chief executive of the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation, Paiboon Upatising, today urging fans to contribute to help the young player and father of a newborn daughter.

FC Phuket remains third in Group B, needing a win over Loei City on Saturday night to accentuate its claim to a rise up the ladder.

With Camara's two Ivory Coast companions on the field and his brother in the stands, FC Phuket will be doing its best to score a victory.

A fighting draw last weekend left the team with three draws and a win from four games, poised for better things tomorrow night.
