Mathieu Alfano, 27, appears to be the centre of attention in Phuket

Phuket Expat, Patong Girlfriend Stole Bikes to Rebuild and Sell Via Facebook

Wednesday, December 17, 2014
PHUKET: Police believe a Frenchman and his Phuket girlfriend stole motorcycles in Patong to sell a rebuilt bike via Facebook.

He is also accused of offering a bribe of 100,000 baht to police.

Mathieu Alfano, 27, and Pawana Moonsatub, 21, were identified from security camera footage and traced to an apartment in Patong's Phrabaramee Road.

Police found motorcycle parts there yesterday and accused Alfano of stealing a Honda PCX 150 on December 3 and Kuhn Pawana of being involved in an earlier theft.

The refitted motorcycle was allegedly sold via Facebook to a foreigner for 40,000 baht.

Alfano has confessed but Khun Pawana has yet to confess.

He had been living on Phuket for 18 months on tourist visas.

Police say the courts at first rejected their application for arrest warrants but once more evidence was gathered, gave permission.

The Belgian man who bought the bike could be charged with possession of stolen goods but will instead simply lose the motorcycle.
