A sting operation outside a school in Phuket City by officers from Provincial Hall and Phuket City police led to the arrest last night of two men, with 200 grams of yah ice (methamphetamine.)
Atid Piyapan, 28, a motorcycle salesman earning 9000 baht a week, and Chatchawan Mankong, 29, who sobbed when asked about the death penalty, were old friends, a media presentation at Provincial Hall heard today.
The men confessed to having been paid 40,000 baht to bring the yah ice to Phuket in a pickup from Kanchanaburi province. They said it was their first trip carrying drugs, and they only knew the nickname of the Phuket contractor.
An offer of 230,000 baht from a Provincial Hall official led to the drugs being produced last night, and the arrest of the pair.
The media was told at today's presentation that the 200 gms of illicit drugs could be converted to 20,000 yah ba tablets.
Both men told Governor Wichai Praisa-ngob that their parents had yet to learn of their arrest, and their involvement with drugs.

What does this mean?

It means that as part of the ''sting'' an official with 230,000 baht as bait prompted the pair to produce the drugs.
