Phuket Driver Takes Bypass Detour Down Slope: Three Injured

Wednesday, January 22, 2014
PHUKET: A Toyota saloon taking five people to work at a five-star resort in northern Phuket slid off the bypass road and down an embankment in Phuket City today, putting three passengers into hospitals.

The crash came about 8.10am when Songchai Petpud, 28, lost control and the Toyota, heading north, headed instead off-road. As well as the five men in the vehicle, a woman was being taken to be dropped off to catch a bus for Had Yai.

The men were all on their way to work in Mai Khao. The woman and two of the men were taken to Bangkok Hospital Phuket, Vachira Phuket Hospital and Mission Hospital.

The injuries were not serious. Statistics on road crashes on Phuket have not been officially updated since April 2012.

Has anyone noticed that the underpass at Central exits and enters at the Wichitsongkram school. This is where the children cross the road. There was always a Policeman there and a small grass area to help the kids cross the road. When this underpass is finished how will they cross.Do we wait for a disaster and say we did not know. The skywalk at central east and west has been up for months. Baht more then children???
