PHUKET: A ''Bonnie and Clyde'' couple who admitted to robbing 11 houses in southern Phuket and others all over Phuket were arrested last night in a special joint operation.
On Wednesday last week, a handgun was flourished as they rode through a checkpoint and escaped.
Police did not fire because Jenjira Ardharn, 25, was on the back of the motorcycle being ridden by Tawatchai Titutoon, 42.
It was Khun Jenjira who pulled the gun and threatened police, officers said today. The couple took off from Chalong Circle down Patak Road, where they commandeered a fresh motorcycle from a motorcycle taxi rider at gunpoint.
Outside Karon temple, the motorcycle spilled them onto the road with police closing in. The couple took a woman's motorcycle at gunpoint, and sped off.
Near Chalong temple, police closed in and shot Khun Tawatchai in the leg. The couple managed to escape but the gunshot wound did not receive treatment until after the pair's arrest.
Last night at 5pm, Chalong police and the Phuket Police Commander's special squad combined to net the couple at Prasert mansion, an apartment block near Tammachart (Natural) Restaurant in downtown Phuket City.
The couple admitted stealing from 11 homes in the Chalong region alone, plus others in Phuket City, Patong, Cherng Talay and Kamala to fund Khun Tawatchai's heroin habit.
Khun Jenjira also had a fondness for ya ice mathamphetamine. The arrest of the pair leaves the future of their children aged nine, eight, and eight months uncertain.

Interesting background info on their family situation. Needless to say lack of responsibility is staggering.
I wonder what criteria the local Child Protection Services use before they intervene.
Habitual burglaries and drug addiction would certainly lead to protective custody order in developed countries but I wonder in what kind of circumstances children would end up in Thailand.
It's sad to see that children are way too often those who suffer most.
Almost everyone can have children but I wish some didn't.
