A pair of women arrested in an earlier drugs bust on Phuket

Phuket 'Cocaine Post' Bust: Two Women Held as Police Seek Nigerian

Wednesday, May 16, 2012
PHUKET: Police are looking for a Nigerian man and and are holding two Thai women over a six million baht post-cocaine-to-Phuket drugs bust.

Earlier this month, word came from sources in Germany that Phuket police should be on the lookout for cocaine smugglers.

As a result, Thalang police staked out a local company and also kept an eye on a post office box address at Thalang Post Office.

On Monday they observed Suwinion Sampaorat, 44, pick up a parcel adressed to the post office box.

She was apprehended. Police found three shoulder bags in the parcel concealing a form of cocaine with a street value of six million baht.

Khun Suwinion said that she was only picking up the parcel on behalf of a friend, wine saleswoman Sirikorn Pankrajang, 45.

Police then hauled in Khun Sirikorn for questioning. She told them the parcel was actually meant for her boyfriend, Nigerian Kevin David. She met him at a Christian church in Bangkok, she told police.

Officers are now looking for the Nigerian man and the two women are being held pending formal charges.

"Police then apprehended Nigerian Kevin David who explained that he was in fact acting on behalf of fellow Nigerian Stephen Boldo who, when apprehended, claimed that the parcel was meant for etc etc etc etc ad infinitum."

What happened to the death penalty??? Set a limit and if arrested with anything over that amount, the penalty is death. Only way to try and stop this evil.

I personally never use drugs, but even so, I never understand how selling something, as long as it is to an adult individual, can be seen as being such an amazingly horrendous crime? Much much worse than, say, beating up somebody over something trivial, or even murdering somebody. It's totally out of proportion. Besides, cocaine is a less hard drug than common whisky or any other hard liquor that many people gladly consume (because it's legal, yes I know) while at the same time scream for the death penalty to be applied. If alcohol was introduced today, it would rank right up there with the hardest drugs, we would be fed from a young age with images of violent drunks, car accidents, broken homes, liver damage etc etc that taking this HORRIBLE new drug will lead to. The double standard is mind boggling. Everybody that have any knowledge of drugs will know that cocaine is a relatively mild drug, much less damaging to the body and society than alcohol. And don't get me started on marijuana which is scientifically proven to be not much more harmful than smoking a cigarette. And light years less dangerous than hard liquor. It's a proven fact, and it makes the laws, and the general view on drugs, look stupid, illogical and ridiculous.

I agree with everything Christian. And all the billions of dollars spent enforcing all of this, and where are we now, still drugs everywhere !
Its proven that nicotine is more addictive than Heroin (fact) alcohol & cigarettes have more deaths than any other drugs, and they're legal?
