Phuket Celebrates Korea Day in Triplicate

Tuesday, November 16, 2010
CELEBRATIONS of Korea Day on Phuket this year are so complete that Korea Day will extend across November 18, November 19 and November 20.

Staged by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Phuket and Korean Association of Phuket, a Korean film festival adds to the fun and details about the ''Korean Wave'' will be revealed.

The Popularity of Korean culture has made it a wave in Thailand as well as throughout most of Asia, with widely-followed television shows at the crest.

Korea's Ambassador, Mr Chung Hae-moon, will be visiting Phuket and delivering a policy briefing on the Korea-Thailand relationship to local leaders at the Royal Phuket City Hotel at 5pm on November 18, followed at 6.30pm by a reception for local government officials, civic and community leaders, scholars, journalists and Korean residents.

On Friday he will conduct a special lecture on the Korean Wave to students at the Prince of Songkla University campus on Phuket to broaden the understanding of Korea. He will also attend the opening ceremony of the Korean film festival during the evening.

The festival will begin at 6pm on both November 19 and November 20 at Patong beach. 'My Girlfriend is an Agent' will be shown on November 19, followed by 'Speed Scandal' and 'Fortune Salon' on November 20.
