A MAN heard a baby crying and found a new-born boy in a bag amid jungle in Phuket's central Kathu district late yesterday.
Probably less than a day old when Keirtsak Eaksawatsirikul, 42, relied on his curiosity to lead him to the source of the crying, the foundling is now in Vachira Hospital and responding to the care of nurses.
Khun Keirtsak found the babe in a bag as rain fell about 5.10pm and called Tungtong Police Station. Police found the boy, who was wrapped in a towel, in jungle at Ban Saitong.
The bag had protected the infant from insect bites.
Nurses at Vachira Hospital in Phuket City say the boy weighs 2840 gms and is healthy.
Doctors are concerned for the well-being of the mother, who may be distraught and in need of help.
She is urged to contact officials at Vachira so she can be reunited with her son.
