PHUKET An adult dolphin has been washed up on the beach at Bang Tao, the first dolphin to be found dead or alive on a Phuket beach so far this year.
The dolphin, a female weighing about 150 kilos, was spotted by Bang Tao Longtail Association President Yunu Kaoleg, 55, as he walked along the beach about 8.30am today.
The dolphin carried some scars, including a cut to a flipper.
Dr Kongkiat Kittiwattanawong of the Phuket Marine Biological Centre, based on Phuket's east coast, said the dolphin could have been dead for a couple of days.
Its body was taken to the Phuket centre to be autopsied so a cause of death could be determined.
