The modified fuel ship Pramiga, arrested and towed back to Phuket

Phuket Arrest for Skipper of Illegal Fuel Boat

Saturday, September 24, 2011
PHUKET: A man is being held at Chalong Police Station on Phuket after a combined operation from Phuket led to the apprehension of a boat and its skipper for illegal fuel sales.

The modified trawler Pramiga was towed back to Phuket Deep Sea Port on Thursday night. A cargo of 40,000 litres was found on the vessel.

Officials intercepted the Pramiga in the Andaman Sea off Phuket after a concerted campaign by police and Marine Police from Phuket and several other provinces, with Customs officers.

Skipper Anusit Kebsub, 47, admitted to modifying the vessel to carry fuel and selling illegal fuel at sea to fishing vessels. A penalty will probably include payment of the tax he avoided paying.
