PHUKET: It was one of those Patong nights. Everybody seemed to be falling down.
First, paramedics found themselves called about 5.20pm to the aid of a tourist who had toppled from a resort balcony in Sai Nam Yen Road. Could it be that someone had pushed her, as the cynics always claim when anyone falls from a balcony?
Apparently not. The woman was reading a book on her balcony when a gust of wind blew the door shut. With nobody on the other side to open the door, she found herself trapped on the balcony.
Unable to attract the attention of passersby, she tried to climb down but slipped and fell. Fortunately, she sustained no serious injuries.
A little later in the night - well, actually quite a bit later - paramedics were called out again to another case where a tourist was on the pavement. This case involved an Australian man.
He had apparently been spotted making his way a little unsteadily down Patong's famous Soi Bangla walking street. At a bar, he opted to pause for a drink.
In attempting to mount the stool, onlookers said, he slipped and cracked his head on the edge of the bar, then on the pavement.
Both falling victims are expected to be back on their feet today.

The accident was off Nanai Rd next to my house.
