PHUKET police rejected a bribe of 380,000 baht to press the case against a major drug dealer who allegedly operated from a bar in Soi Paradise, Patong police chief Colonel Arayapan Pukbuakao said today.
The alleged drug dealer, Yaowalak Jungnok, 40, was already on bail for drug charges involving possession of 400 yah e pills (ecstasy).
Police arrested the woman at her home in Nanai Road on Monday night is an undercover operation in which an officer sought to buy five yah e pills for 6500 baht. She had invited the plain-clothes policeman to her house to seal the deal, officers said.
When the policeman declared his identity, officers pounced and searched the premises. Police said they found 46.7 grams of yah ice valued at 700,000 baht, 55 yah e pills (1200-1500 baht each) 5.2 grams of cocaine valued at 10,000 baht and 380,000 baht in cash.
Police said Khun Yaowalak offered the police all the cash to forget the case.
Colonel Arayapan said it was the biggest drugs raid since he took over the Patong region on February 19. The bar that the woman ran in Soi Paradise was the Bar Maprang.
