Wreckage of one sliding Patong home injured a man in the house below

Patong Landslip Tumbles House Rubble into Bedroom, Injuring Man

Monday, October 3, 2011
PHUKET: A man suffered head wounds requiring 50 stitches when a neighbor's front porch and wall collapsed and slid down onto his house in Patong today.

The toppling section of house swept aside a wall and carried concrete rubble into the room where Witsanu Yidsua, 38, president of Ban Mon village and a jet-ski operator, was watching television.

Bloody handprints on a wall mark Khun Witsanu's escape from the shattered room as his neighbor Surat Koongkaew, 60, called for assistance.

Khun Witsanu was taken to Patong Hospital and later transferred to Phuket International Hospital in Phuket City.

The houses where the slip took place about 9.30am are close to Nanai Road and Patong's temple t-intersection.

One awkwardness is that the house that fell was in the middle of a purchase transaction.

A man from Udonthani had paid five million baht deposit and was to complete the purchase of the long, single-storey Patong property for another 15 million baht.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Miligation continues to warn of the dangers of serious land slips as Phuket's bout of prolonged wet weather continues.

A spokesperson for Patong Municipality said today that the council would cover the cost of Khun Witsanu's treatment.

It's expensive enough when you damage a jet ski operator's jet ski. You certainly don't want to start damaging his house!! At least no mediation was needed eh!!

I would like to feel sorry - but since it was a Jet Ski operator - this is what is better known as KARMA......

Karma or not, nobody deserves to be injured.

20M baht for a single story house on Nanai Road? Seems pretty generous.

Excuse me, that house was sold for 20M Baht? I know prices are going up but that seems a little difficult to believe.

So we're told. Perhaps there's more to it.

The only way any house on Nanai Road could be worth 20 million baht is if it had 15 million baht's worth of ya ice stored in it. Hmmm, I wonder...

And the question is... Will people ever learn that you cannot keep raping the environment without paying the consequences? Simple answer = No

What goes around, comes around

Mr Witsanu, president of the Ban Mon Community Council, is leading the fight against a plan to bore a tunnel under Patong Hill that would require the construction of a large overpass over his community. You understand now why he is selling the house...

Er does the buyer from UdonThani get his full deposit back? I hope so and please tell him that he was being ripped off in the price of the house. No the buyer will learn about slippage and depreciation of house values. Nothing is as it seems in Patong.

I hope the buyer from Udon Thani gets his full deposit back? Now he will learn about sliding property prices.
Slip sliding away,
Slip sliding away
You know the nearer your destination, the more you slip sliding away. Thanks Paul Simon for the words.
