Jet-ski workshop owner Yusup Wichitbut at the fire scene in Patong today

Patong Jet-Skis Burn in Five Million Baht Workshop Blaze: Hunt for Arson Suspects

Wednesday, August 15, 2012
PHUKET: Police are hunting for two men in balaclavas seen fleeing a five million baht blaze in Patong early today that destroyed 10 jet-skis.

Officers are in no doubt that the blaze was deliberately lit but the reason for the arson is less clear.

Yusup Wichitbut, 45, owner of the destroyed jet-skis and the jet-ski and speedboat repair business behind the Jungceylon complex, is helping police with their investigation.

Khun Yusup owns the business, but not the property.

Five fire trucks were called out to quell the blaze about 1.40am today. Fuel and paint thinners stored in the business helped the blaze to spread.

Two men in balaclavas were seen fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.

Two speedboats and two jet-skis were pulled to safety.

Amazing how quickly the insurance adjusters determine the loss. 10 jet skis a couple of screwdrivers and hammers = 5 million???

This is one of those occasions where I hope there WASN'T CCTV in the area! Glad no one was hurt but as stated above - what goes around comes around. Unfortunately if this is the start of some sort of jetski war, it could get nasty.
