Expats at the Cha-Am restaurant last night after the fatal falling out

Norwegians Fall Out, Fight in Cha-Am Restaurant: One Shoots Business Partner Dead Over Unpaid Money

Friday, April 3, 2015
PHUKET: Two Norwegian business partners fell out and fought in a Thai holiday resort restaurant last night before one fetched a gun and shot the other dead.

He then shot himself, but the shot was not fatal. He was under police guard in hospital last night.

According to witnesses, one man told the other that he couldn't repay a loan connected with the business they operated together in Norway.

The pair fought in Lek's Restaurant Switzerland in the holiday resort town of Cha-Am, Petchaburi province, about 8.30pm.

Local police named the man who was shot dead soon after with two bullets behind the ear as Lars Arne Fjeldsbo, 54.

Investigating officer Lieutenant Colonel Yutthana Rattanapan said that Stine Somchai Husoy, 59, was under police guard and being treated for wounds to his face at Petcharat Hospital.

''The two men argued and fought,'' the lieutenant colonel said. ''One man fetched a gun from his motorcycle. After they fought, he pulled the gun and shot the other man behind his ear.

The shooter then went outside, kneeled down and pointed the gun at his face. However, the shot went through his cheek and his nose but was not fatal.''

The shooting shocked other expat residents in Cha-Am, which is not far from Hua Hin. Both beach resorts are considered to be tame places compared to Pattaya and Phuket.

The two men in the fatal confrontation were regulars at the restaurant, police said. ''They often had dinner and played darts with two other expats,'' said the lieutenant colonel.

A 9mm handgun was lying in gravel when the police arrived.

Members of the Sawang Sanpetchthamma Sathan paramedic foundation treated the wounded man for his self-inflicted injuries and took the dead man's body to the local morgue.

It has yet to become public knowledge what kind of business the two men ran before their fatal falling-out.

Stine Husoy has a Thai girlfriend and is believed to spend some time in Thailand.

Just curious, so what will become of the shooter will he be jailed and tried here or will he be deported and tried back in his own country? And what would be the penalty for such an offence here in Thailand? Just courious....

The lesson is:do not give money to friends. Only against good securities in your hands or write it off the moment you do. And therefore only sums you are willing to loose. But better just do not do it.

@Somchai, I don't quite understand your question, so it's a bit hard to answer. I'm not sure if Norwegians are statistically higher in "gun users" as any other nation, we only need to look locally, that is Thailand, to see a far higher number of gun users than Norway. Deaths by guns Thailand 33/100,000 Norway 1.7/100,000 as you can see, your question is mmmmm not justified unless you can produce so facts.
