South African spinner Imran Tahir's match figures of 0-260 in the second Test surpassed the previous worst ever by Pakistan's Khan Mohammad. PhuketWATCH Daily Media Wrap

PHUKET: A daily wrap of Thailand news, with a Phuket perspective, plus relevant reports from national and international media. Police in Thailand fired tear gas and arrested dozens of anti-government protesters in Bangkok, in the largest public demonstration against Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra since she came to power last year. The Pitak Siam rally was out-thought, out-gunned and doomed from the start - not to mention it attracted just two percent of the target turnout. At least 10,000 protesters gathered, demonstrating against the government of Yingluck Shinawatra, the sister of the deposed former prime minister. The rally was organised by a group who accuse Ms Yingluck of being a puppet of her brother, Thaksin Shinawatra. At least seven police officers were reported wounded in clashes. There was a brief confrontation at the Makkawan Bridge at 10.40am when supporters of anti-government Pitak Siam group tried to break through the police barricades to join the rally at the Royal Plaza. However, the route is prohibited from entering by anyone, according to the Internal Security Law enforced earlier. Police used tear gas to control the crowd. The clash ended shortly before noon. The leader of the anti-government protest admitted to his ''loss to evil'' after calling off the rally in the evening. Retired General Boonlert Kaewprasit said he called off the protest because the number of participants was smaller than expected. "My daughter walked into a trap, made by a clever guy she trusted when he offered to bring her home on his scooter," says the father of a Krabi rape case victim, who made a video entitled 'Evil Man from Krabi' and posted it on YouTube. His daughter says: ''Until proactive actions are taken to increase security and safety for visitors and Thai citizens, I would certainly caution people visiting Thailand, and Ao Nang in particular.'' Italy's Massimo Cigana and Czech Republic's Radka Vodickova will defend their titles in the 19th Laguna Phuket Triathlon, where around 1200 triathletes from 46 countries will put their endurance and physical fitness to the test today. A man has plunged to his death from a hotel balcony at a holiday camp. Emergency services were called to the Butlins complex in Bognor Regis, West Sussex, in the early hours of this morning following a report that Timothy Wall, 23, had fallen. Thirty-three would-be asylum seekers have drowned on their way to Christmas Island in a boat tragedy that would have gone unrecorded if one man had not miraculously survived. Habib Ullah, 22, has told how he survived three days in the water while watching his fellow asylum seekers, all men from Afghanistan and Pakistan, drowning one by one. Tributes poured in to mark the death of Larry Hagman, aged 81, the actor best known as JR Ewing, perhaps the most notorious villain in the history of TV soaps. Hagman's portrayal of JR in Dallas earned him worldwide fame and catapulted the character of the scheming oilman with the terrifying grin to the pinnacle of pop culture. It's not quite The Hangover, but schoolies have given their hard partying in Bali a new twist by buying a monkey, bringing it back to their hotel to party with them for a week, and surviving a rabies scare. They planned to give it to a vet on heading home. Readers' Guide to Phuket, Thailand: Do a day trip to Phi Phi Island or Phang Nga Bay. I recommend Phuket Sail Tours - the boats are immaculate and food is fabulous. Captain Mark and his staff are very friendly and informative, great with adults and children and they will take you to places the other boats don't visit.

Phuket World Sports Wrap Thailand beat Philippines 2-1 in the opening Group A match of AFF Suzuki Cup Football Championship.

sapa South Africa completed an unbeaten tour of Europe with a 16-15 victory over England at Twickenham that did more damage to the hosts' hopes of a top four seeding at next month's World Cup draw. Australia repeatedly turned the ball over in the Italians' half and were only let out of jail with a minute to go after Italian five-eighth Luciano Orquera missed a shot at goal from 40 metres out that would have equalised the scores at 22 points a piece. Italy 19-22 Australia.
Advertisement A resounding 10-33 defeat for Wales featured the worst excesses of the All Blacks inside the opening minute as Kiwi hooker Andrew Hore launched a shocking, cowardly assault on Bradley Davies - putting him out of the game before he had even touched the ball. Australia, at 5-111, lead by 273 and should still be favored to complete a result in the Second Test that would inch them closer to a return to the top of the world rankings, something which could then be secured in Perth.

Rapist can and should be punished, but can actions be taken against clever guys and naive girls?
