He told a meeting of Phuket's honorary consuls with Phuket business leaders that he had been approached by Korean families looking to learn more about Phuket and its facilities.
''I've been approached by people looking to find out more about hospitals and schools,'' he said. ''These people already have investments in Thailand but are looking to move to Phuket now.''
He said the number of tourists was also likely to increase with three Thai Airways flights a week from Inchon and Bangkok Airways planning more from next year.
Three Korean airlines were operating on the route to Phuket as well, he said.
Koreans enjoyed Phuket's weather and the prices remained much better than alternatives closer to home.
The Korean Ambassador to Thailand is due to meet with Phuket Governor tri Augkaradacha tomorrow.
