GRATEFUL senior officers visited police patrolman Nopadon Boonyapijid in hospital on Thursday and commended him and his mother for his bravery.
PHUKET: A man suspected of being a drug dealer was shot in the leg when he tried to escape today by crunching past a police patrol motorcycle.
Injured policeman Nopadon Boonyapijid managed to let loose several shots despite suffering a broken arm and a rib.
One of the shots penetrated the door of the Silver Honda Jazz, wounding suspect Taweepong Kerdpon, 28, in the leg.
Officer Nopadon had tried to move in front of the Jazz after a high-speed chase but Taweepong kept going, injuring the officer.
Undaunted, he kept firing and the vehicle hit a traffic lights post at the t-junction of Chao Fa East Road and Sakdidet Road, which runs from Phuket City to cape Panwa.
Small quantities of methamphetamines were found in the Jazz after the shooting, about 6pm.
Both men were taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital.
Well done officer Boonyapijid aim higher next. Hope you have a swift recovery
