PHUKET: The father of the bride met Phuket's Governor yesterday, with the father of the groom. Indian weddings are big and the Batra-Batra nuptials in August will be no exception.
Captain Avinash Batra, chairman of Seahorse Ship Agencies, the father of the groom, and Captain Somesh Batra, Co-chairman of the Seahorse Group, the father of the bride, told Governor Tri Augkaradacha all about it.
Phuket will share in the splendor when Vicky Batra, 27, weds his bride, Sagarika, also 27, over several days at Laguna Phuket from August 10-13.
The fathers, whose business connections and shipping empire extend from Mumbai to Bangkok, reckon that many of the 200 guests who are coming to enjoy the best that Phuket has to offer are likely to be keen to invest on the holiday island.
Their visit to the Phuket Governor's office was to let the island know that Indian weddings present opportunities too, and with forewarning perhaps any potential Immigration issues might be speedily overcome.
Many of the Indian weddings on Phuket have been spectacular affairs, often with Bollywood superstars involved as guests or performers, and sometimes both.
Planning for the marriage between the Batra clans has yet to evolve that far, but it's safe to say that no expense will be spared, and that it will be a memorable affair for the couple and all who are fortunate enough to be there.
