Three men held when armed police raided a house in central Phuket

Gun-Toting Phuket Councillor Sold Cocaine, Marijuana

Saturday, June 4, 2011
PHUKET: AN ELECTED member of a local Phuket council has confessed to being a drugs dealer after armed raids in which Phuket police netted cocaine, heroin and three kilos of marijuana.

Cherng Talay Orbortor member Nakin ''Pu'' Wisuttarom, 36, had been a suspect for some time but Phuket police finally gained the evidence they needed with the arrest of U-Dom ''Dom'' Rattanamanee,34, on Thursday.

Khun Dom had in his possession 32.6 grams of cocaine and a gun. When asked where the drug had come from, Khun Dom named Khun Pu.

Police staked out Khun Pu's isolated house near a central Phuket temple before swooping in a predawn armed raid yesterday.

Khun Pu was arrested with two other men, Wichi Kongtup, 34, and Pomsak Wantong, 39. In the house police found 310.63 grams of heroin, three kilos of marijuana and two guns.

Khun Pu confessed to being a heroin addict but said he only sold drugs to his friends. Khun Wichi and Khun Pomsak denied any connection with the drugs.

Wow cocaine is an expensive drug. And 300 grams is certainly worth a lot. So how was he financing this?

Fortunately this case wasn't investigated by certain Phuket Wan readers. They had the innocent party tried and convicted just because his story didn't fit in with their own jaundiced theories of the event.
