POLICE believe they have busted a 200 million baht methamphetamine factory that was producing illegal ya bah for the Greater Phuket region, arresting five men and seizing four guns, five telephones, four vehicles, 4000 tablets and 21 kilos of ingredients.
The arrests and the huge haul that also included the equipment for making the ya bah came yesterday afternoon when Phang Nga police closed in on suspect Mangkron Patjirang, 57, a local.
Khun Mangkron and Surasak Hangsamai, 27, were arrested in a pickup travelling from Krabi to Phang Nga.
At Khun Mangkron's quiet home in the peaceful Phang Nga region of Kapong, police found three men producing large quantities of ya bah.
Officers arrested Manut Aungsuwan, 52, Tong-Inn Jantaman, 32, from Phuket, and Sompoch Songprasan, 56, and seized tablets, ingredients, guns, telephones and the four vehicles.
On Phuket, police often catch people who are peddling or couriering the illegal drug.
Yesterday's capture of five men and the busting of a large-scale ya bah factory represents a real coup for Phang Nga police.

Well done to the police on this one. The noose is tied now and waiting for for the big producers / manufacturers and the drug mules. This should curtail the spread of this abhorent drug for a while. Alas, some other sod will move in to take these chaps place, then I hope the police will catch them too. Well done, go for the big guns.
