A KEEN-EYED Patong neighbor saw a couple of suspicious characters heading next-door at 2am on Sunday, solving the mystery of the thieves in the neighborhood.
German Holgen Voip, 54, called Patong police and before long the game was up for the two intruders who made off with a television set.
Mr Voip's neighbor in the south Patong housing area, Italian Franco Nalli, 53, was house-minding for friends and glad that the culprits were quickly apprehended.
Officers arrested Max Corter, 22, and Paradorn Robrue, 28, on a motorcycle with the tv set at a checkpoint in Kalim, north of Patong.
And with their arrest came the admission that they had been responsible for a theft on October 23 from the home of Supaporn Nerdang, 31, who lives on the other side of Mr Franco.
The men confessed to having stolen her boyfriend's laptop, passport and work permit, as well as a television set.
The pair told police they had hocked the 50,000 baht laptop for 8000 baht at a pawnshop in Phuket City, but kept the television set for their own use.
The men told police they had trashed the stolen passport and work permit.

One of the Thai thieves was named Max Corter? Perhaps he presented the passport that he allegedly nicked from Khun Supaporn's boyfriend to the police as his ID.
