The wreckage of the minivan, struck by an airborne pickup yesterday

Five Navy Officers Killed as Pickup Becomes Airborne, Hits Convoy

Tuesday, July 7, 2015
PHUKET: Five Navy personnel were killed when an out-of-control pickup slammed into a convoy of minivans in Surat Thani yesterday.

The runaway pickup became airborne on striking a mid-road plantation about 5.15pm and crashed on top of the second of three minivans, killing everyone inside.

More senior officers were travelling in the third minivan.

The crash came on the road between Surat Thani and Takuapa in Phang Nga, north of Phuket, as the convoy headed back to Bangkok after a trip to Ratchaprapa Dam.

The driver of the pickup survived and faces serious charges.

Same Same and Same again

What a shame and a tragedy for the families. How sad.

With no sanctions for wrong doing, people drive like maniacs. Hang an amulet from the mirror or have a statue of Buddha or your favorite monk on the dashboard and your immortal and impervious to danger.

Sad for them & their families - RIP.

When, oh when, will driving standards be improved & more importantly, enforced.
