The New Zealand man, Paul Allen, ran a bar in the OTOP section of Patong. It is thought that the other man Harald Rainerr, may have been a patron of the bar at times.
PATONG police are looking into two deaths of expats on Phuket - a New Zealand man found in his room and a retired German who appears to have fallen and struck his head.
The New Zealand man, aged 58, was found by his wife in his room on Nanai Road, in the early hours of February 14, apparently having died while eating a pizza.
The German man, a former solider aged 69, appears to have died the previous day in a fall down entrance steps to the footpath at a Nanai guesthouse about 7.10pm. Photographs show the man lying at the foot of a short set of steps.
The death of the New Zealand man follows the unusual case in which New Zealander Sarah Carter, 23, died in Chiang Mai, apparently from food poisoning, while two friends required hospital treatment.
Nanai Regular down.. RIP Harry, you finally didnt dodge that coffin.
Funny old bastrad.. One of the P-Bar regulars.. Always getting mullered and 'I maow.. I go boom sing now'.. Remember him having an argument over a bird with another OAP coffin dodger and the pair of them going into the street, rolling up their sleeves, and posturing up like Marquis of Queensbury.. fists up and skinny little arms.. Too funny you mad old bugger.
When in windup mode we could always get him going about where he was in the war.. Always used to maintain he was in Hong Kong IIRC (lying old Nazi !!) and always made for great sport.. Always ready for a joke, always with a smile in his mad old eyes. A definite original, one of gods own prototypes, not destined for mass production that one !!
He will be having a sang som and coke up there tonight.. Can put it in my check bin any time.
RIP mate.
