A BANGKOK taxi being driven to Phuket has created a new level for the debate ''who owns the shoulder bag?'' after police found drugs inside.
''I know nothing about it, I drive the taxi,'' said driver and taxi owner Piroj Sricham, 42.
''I am the passenger and it's not my bag,'' said Sompit Singsun, 41, even though the bag contained a photograph of him . . . as well as 38 grams of ya ice.
Police at Tachatchai Checkpoint in Phuket's north pulled the Bangkok cab over about 10am today and found seven mobile telephones and drug-taking paraphernalia inside.
The passenger and the driver were still debating who owned the bag. The meter was not running.
Police at the checkpoint arrested the taxi pair after pulling three people off a bus at 1.30am.
Brothers Sutham Lanug, 28, Prayut Lanug, 21, and Keseam Kaokeong, 42, admitted to being paid 1000 baht each to transport 17.29 grams of ya ice from Trang to Phuket.
Police at Phuket's road access checkpoint said that 24 people had been arrested for drugs during February, with seven arrests involving handguns.
