A READER reviews last night's Twinpalms birthday party at Catch Beach Club: It was awesome. Probably 2000 people there at least, very well organised. The free food was served in little paper cups (sate, spring rolls, sliced up wraps, etc) on several tables which people could just come and grab so there was no queuing up, plus they had roving waiters with trays of food, too. Free sangria was served for two hours. They had very few chairs so people had to mingle and dance.
An army of attendants in the car park (the big field) ensured everyone got in and out safely and easily. They had a bar completely made of ice from which shots of vodka were served in glasses that had flashing lights on the bottom. There were twirling acrobats from Palazzo, there was a soul-dance singer, a guitarist and stage dancers. A brief rainstorm blew in at midnight. I expect the party raged on for many more hours.

It is quite staggering that a minister in the Pakistani government can retain his job whilst calling for the death of a citizen of another country for the archaic law of blasphemy in a movie that he possibly has not even watched. I wonder how the US media would react if, say, the director of the US dept. of transportation called for the death of protesters burning American flags. It would be nice to see the Pakistani government distance themselves from this buffoon, by firing him. Muslims need to understand that actions like this make it difficult for many people to have much sympathy with Islam.
