PHUKET: A Danish tourist drowned off an Andaman coast beach in Phang Nga, north of Phuket, yesterday, say local officials.
The man, aged 74, died despite getting assistance from a resort lifeguard.
It is believed the drowning took place at Khuk Khak beach, north of the township of Khao Lak, about 1.30pm.
Phuketwan has been given a name but is not identifying the man until we are sure that relatives have been informed.

I am not familiar with this beach ... but I do know that there are some beaches on the west coast which slope very steeply & quickly into deep water. These are not suited for weak or non swimmers & warnings should be posted, just as rip tide warnings are beginning to appear on the better known beaches.
