PHUKET: A Chinese tourist who was airlifted by helicopter to a Phuket hospital after a snorkelling mishap remains seriously ill in an intensive care unit today.
The condition of the woman, Jin Giuping, 29, has not changed, Chinese Consul Xu Mingling said today.
Jin Giuping was plucked from Racha island, south of Phuket, by a Royal Navy helicopter on Saturday - just a day after Phuket Governor Tri Augkaradacha opened a new helipad on Racha.
Her husband, Zhen Shuguang, alerted other people on the snorkelling day trip when he saw his wife, wearing a lifejacket, lying still in the water, face down.
The couple, who arrived on Phuket on Friday, were due to fly back to China today.
