PHUKET: A blaze destroyed two houses in Phuket City early today, with one owner-occupier thankful to be awoken by a barking dog.
Four Phuket City fire trucks fought the blaze that caused about 200,000 baht in damage to the timber one-storey homes in Soi Korpai, not far from Phuket Immigration headquarters.
A pickup and a bicycle were also damaged. House owner Amphan Sale, 57, said a barking dog woke her up about 12.30am.
''I am glad the dog barked,'' she said. The other house was vacant, as was a third house where renovations are being carried out.
The cause of the blaze is not known.
