@ salon.com The low-cost airline [AirAsia] prides......... and the tourist ghetto of Phuket, wasn't without its kinks.

This written by an airline pilot, doesn't pay many compliments to either Phuket nor Phi Phi and LCC in general.

A very interesting article together with the main story, written in blunt terms by someone completely independent with little to loose or gain.

Editor Comment:

What Salon says is the intelligent tourist's viewpoint on the tatty, second-rate places that Thailand's island jewels are becoming. Without government intervention and a sweeping plan for preservation, Phuket's five-star aspirations will be dead in the water - literally dead in the water - before 2020. No second chances when it comes to saving and protecting coral reefs and beaches.
